Last year marked a defining chapter in FLock’s evolution. We started 2025 with our Token Generation Event and mainnet launch, and ended it ready to launch our demand-driven, full-cycle AI development platform.
Since FLock was founded in 2022, we’ve been on a mission to make the development of privacy-preserving decentralised AI that’s secure, equitable and community-driven. Throughout the year, the team launched many products, cemented phenomenal partnerships, published academic papers and co-hosted numerous events, including our first FLockCON.
This blog outlines the milestones that shaped the year and the foundations we have laid for long-term sustainability.
Partnerships in the public and private sectors
FLock’s new partnerships cemented its place not just in the ecosystem but in the wider world with practical use cases. It has demonstrated how privacy-preserving AI can be applied to drug discovery and manufacturing to benefit the industry without sharing sensitive data.
We forged relationships with a long list of incredible organisations and companies: UNDP, GSR Markets, Animoca Brands, HashKey HSK, AIGEN Sciences, HBV International, CIMG Inc, DIMO Network, Beacon Protocol, OneKey, Codatta, Questflow, Pieverse, Eden, 0xifini, Deluthium, OpenGradient, Aethir and Acurast.
United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)
The UNDP selected FLock.io as its new AI Strategic Partner. As a mentor, we are supporting pilot projects in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Blockchain Accelerator, and its global hackathons.
FLock supported initiatives aligned with the UN SDGs contributing to responsible AI infrastructure across member states. Blockchain is leaping ahead in fostering international development, but there’s potential for far more. Our focus is climate risk modelling, inclusive energy planning, social protection, and transparent supply chains.
To name a one, in Latin America and the Caribbean, collaboration with the University of Cambridge advanced a blockchain platform integrating parametric climate insurance, gender-responsive lending, and micro-savings to improve resilience and financial inclusion for underserved communities.
Qwen by Alibaba Cloud
FLock partnered with Qwen: a tier 1 open-source LLM, developed by Alibaba Cloud. This marked the first time a major Web2 LLM has chosen to deeply integrate with a decentralised training platform. Then, in August we co-hosted a hackathon for students from leading Korean universities.
Yet more partnerships
Animoca Brands selected FLock as its strategic DeAI training partner, initiating the development of a venture capital research model using federated learning techniques to analyse investment data and deliver insights to venture funds participating in the FL Alliance.
With AIGEN Sciences and Professor Jaewoo Kang, co-creator of BioBERT, FLock applied privacy-preserving AI to drug discovery, enabling hospitals and research institutions to collaborate securely without sharing sensitive data.
Furthermore, we have established two Digital Asset Treasury (DAT) companies listed on the Nasdaq and HKEx. Unlike purely passive DATs – such as Microstrategy – our focus is on partnering with entities that integrate FLock’s privacy-preserving AI technologies.
FLock partnered with CIMG Inc. (NASDAQ: IMG) to develop LifeNode, an AI-driven wellness platform that secures user privacy via decentralized infrastructure. Similarly, our deployment with MBV International (1957.HK) in the manufacturing sector demonstrated significant productivity gains while maintaining strict data protection standards.
Key launches
Mainnet launch and Token Generation Event (TGE) on Base
On December 31, 2024, we announced the official launch of our mainnet on Base. This launch coincided with the Token Generation Event (TGE) for our native token, FLOCK, which serves as our utility token and debuted on Bybit.
From the outset, the launch of the FLock mainnet on Base represented a critical inflection point. Within one week of launch, the network surpassed 100 delegation pools and reached 2.8 million FLOCK tokens staked, reflecting strong early confidence from validators and the wider community.
This momentum continued throughout the year. By October 31, 2025, the network had grown to 262 validators, 1,416 delegators, and 55,928 token holders, demonstrating both decentralisation and broad participation.
Digital Currency Group (DCG) and A41, Korea’s largest validator by total staked assets, joined the network as a validator on the FLock mainnet.
FLock Web3 AI Agent Model’s accuracy surpassed industry-leading LLMs
The team unveiled the FLock Web3 Foundation Model trained, based on Qwen by Alibaba, in March. Its accuracy surpassed industry-leading proprietary LLMs. It was immediately snapped up by io.net, OpenGradient and Hashkey Chain, showing how AI agents can deliver real-world value and become indispensable tools for on-chain intelligence, DeFi, and beyond.
The model replaced the on-chain part of Claude on Base MCP, positioning FLock as the underlying intelligence layer for Base’s emerging AI-agent infrastructure.
FLockOFF on Bittensor
The launch of the new Bittensor subnet (UID 96) FLock OFF, accelerated by Yuma, addressed edge AI’s need for dense, high-quality datasets built for training on lightweight, local devices. It’s our answer to a foundational challenge in federated learning: how do you build a dataset that’s small in size but massive in knowledge?
Bittensor is a permissionless federated learning network optimised for Small Language Models (SLMs) training on edge devices.
API Platform
FLock launched its OpenAI SDK-compatible API Platform on platform.flock.io. It’s an easy way to create API keys to use with AI models, allowing developers to seamlessly build, integrate and scale AI-powered applications.
Tokenomics 2.0 with gmFLOCK and AI Arena v2.1
Following AI Arena v2.0 (May 2025), the November v2.1 update revamped the reward distribution to be fairer and to promote long-term growth within the ecosystem. We introduced a host of powerful features: a new token called gmFLOCK, delegation pools, and DAO integration.
The token economy remained a priority throughout the year. Tokenomics v2 – gmFLOCK – was designed to provide greater incentive for long-term builders. The more recent tokenomics v2.1 upgrade ensures fairer rewards for training nodes and validators that receive a delegation while mitigating market imbalance after the conclusion of training tasks.
Next, FLock prepared for the launch of Tokenomics v3, known as Moonbase. This consists of two core components: the API Platform, which we launched on September 15, and the upcoming FLock Model Launchpad, which we proudly name FOMO (aka. FLock Open Model Offering).
