FLock partners with Qwen - a tier 1 open-source LLM

FLock has partnersed with Qwen – a tier 1 open-source LLM, developed by Alibaba Cloud. This is the first time a major Web2 LLM has chosen to deeply integrate with a decentralised training platform.

Qwen, developed by Alibaba Cloud, is one of the most advanced open-source LLMs available today. It is the most popular open-source LLM in China, where ChatGPT is blocked. It has consistently outperformed leading AI models such as DeepSeek-R1 and Mistral in multiple benchmarks.

FLock will integrate and host its Decentralised AI Agent Model into Alibaba Cloud, marking the first adoption of a DeAI model in a leading centralised AI ecosystem.

For years, DeAI has been questioned for its lack of real-world utility. FLock is rewriting the narrative. Alibaba AI teams will support FLock in creating various AI models, both domain-specific and general-purpose, utilising infrastructure and products from Alibaba.

Both FLock and Alibaba’s teams will leverage their resources to explore research opportunities and use cases. Together, the teams will explore advancements in traditional federated learning (FL) through distributed ledger technology to address data privacy and sovereignty issues in LLM and SLM model training. This initiative will incorporate more private domain data into the AI model training process, ultimately creating more capable and personalised models.

This partnership, which was first announced in April, represents true protocol-level synergy:

  • Technical fusion: Centralised (Qwen) + decentralised (FLock) co-training infrastructure.
  • Ecosystem integration: Joint deployments in verticals like healthcare, finance, and education.
  • Data privacy: FL and smart contracts ensure traceability without compromising confidentiality.

Qwen3, the latest iteration, features models ranging from 0.6B to 235B parameters and dominates open-source benchmarks across language and task categories. With native support for MCP and cutting-edge capabilities, it is a leading force in open-source AI.

FLock provides a complete framework for federated learning, privacy-preserving computation, and trustless onchain execution.

Qwen’s endorsement offers FLock institutional credibility and opens the door for broader collaboration between Web3 DeAI and mainstream AI vendors. FLock effectively becomes the coordination and trust layer—bridging compute, data, and applications.

This marks a milestone in bridging decentralised and centralised AI.

About FLock.io

FLock.io is the first DeAI training platform, combining FL and blockchain to revolutionize AI development. It enables secure, privacy-preserving training without centralising data, allowing communities to collaboratively create, train, and own AI models.

FLock’s ecosystem consists of three key components: AI Arena, a platform for competitive model training; FL Alliance, a privacy-focused collaboration framework that enhances models while preserving data sovereignty; and Moonbase, a decentralised platform that hosts and refines AI models, rewarding contributors and driving the growth of the DeAI ecosystem.
